Surrealist Joke

How many surrealists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

To get to the other side.

(sigh… I’m still giggling…surrealist jokes are PRIME)

Today:

Saturday.

School is back in session, and I think I’m finally begining to manage all the attitudes that come with it. (High School, that is.)

Going to the Japanese Festival today! Pretty flowers and Sumo wrestlers: it’s a beautiful thing…

“Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it ‘the reproduction of what the senses percieve in Nature through the very veil of the soul’. The mere imitation, however accurate, of what is in Nature, entitles no man to the sacred name of “Artist”.” —Edgar Allen Poe

“No, this trick won’t work… How on earth are you ever going to explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love?” —Einstein quote of the day!

ellebelle:

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people may accuse you of selfish motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you may win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable.
Be honest and transparent anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People who really want help may attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you may get hurt.
Give the world your best anyway.

Melting Pot or Cultural Mosaic?

If we study this any longer there will be nothing more to say on the matter. What more points can be made? Besides… there is not even a right or wrong answer, as it depends on whom you ask.

And yet I still have to write a paper on this.

I am having a hard time elucidating my thesis beyond “America is a salad bowl.” Writers block! Blast!

“To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not love. But then, one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be happy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness” —Woody Allen (via maniacalrage) (via joshawesome) (via lovepuppy)
