Nostalgia: A Study In iTunes
Isn’t it neat how much music can charactericterize moods and seasons in time?
Freshman year College: Broken Bells, Grizzly Bear, Beirut, Yeasayer, Band of Horses
Summer: Country, Foster the People, Tokyo Police Club
Transition:
- John Legend (Packing for year two)
- The Pretty Reckless (Dorm Decorating, new year)
Early Sophomore Semester 1: Elizabeth and the Catapult, Duffy
Mid Sophomore Semester 1, November: Ellie Goulding, Andrew Belle, OCMS
Mix Exchange: Pilot, A Cafeteria Coincidence, Songs About Girls, Drapes and Windows, Macaroni and G’s, Tibbohs in Love (Hobbit Hole Jams).
Relationship, Breakup:Luke Bryan, Nicki Minaj, The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wilco
The Dust Settles: Sufjan Stevens, Iron and Wine, Florence and the Machine, Fun.
Wilco is forever ruined, but Bombay Bicycle Club isn’t…which is weird since I listened to Wilco before him and he’s the one who introduced me to BBC.
Summer Transition: Duffy again, Corrine Bailey Rae and other soulful ladies-Adele, Amy Winehouse and the Like, Basia Bulat, Jazzy men, Coeur de Pirate and others.
Now it’s back to school and year three is getting started. Currently shuffling Pandora stations: India Aire, Down Tempo, Cosmic Love, Matisyahu, Tribal, and various French stations. We’ll see what evolves and I’m already interested to see which songs will later remind me of this time in this school year.
